Where: Belfast City, NI
According to the Northern Ireland Housing statistic the homeless population in Northern Ireland equates to 55,000 + individuals. The main causes of homelessness in NI is unsuitable housing and family breakdown, we as a team being based in Belfast want to make sure we’re inspiring those experiencing homelessness in our community to dream again.
What/Why: Dream Project Part 2
What: We are going to create a space where dreamers can dream. In that we are supporting Centenary House in Northern Ireland to redo their community room & create a “Dream Space” for all their guests.
This includes things like:
Painting,
Refurbishing,
& Requested Appliances
Why: With this drop we wanted to give back to our home city by creating a lasting giving product that will provide a space to dream for those experiencing homelessness!
The result? A healthy environment for people to feel safe, dream and thrive!
When: August - September
Final Thoughts:
We are taking our giving to a new level and with your help we are creating a lasting giving product that will impact hundreds of individuals in the future. More than an extreme makeover, it's an investment in a space that will be used on the journey of people transitioning out of homelessness. We’ve collected surveys and asked their guests to dream. This space will include painting, furniture, requested accessories, beneficial resources like (art, instruments, music systems etc). We hope you will join us in this journey as we keep you updated on it’s progress. Thanks for your support in helping others to know it's never too late to dream.
___________________________________________________________________________By now all you Oi fam have become very familiar with our ‘Wear One, Share One’. This is where we empower you with an additional product to share with someone who is homeless in your city. This summer we have decided to dream bigger with our giving and inspire people to dream no matter what their circumstance. Say hello to WOSO (Wear One, Share One), a new way of giving. With every purchase you will be part of our exciting NEW PROJECT that will be taking place this month with The Bowery Mission in New York City.
We are so excited to announce that we’re kicking off our giving with personalised DREAM PACKS for those experiencing homelessness. We wanted to make sure the giving back for this collection was tailored to this concept of dreaming bigger. We are making 150 personalised packs! We want to meet the individual needs but also help invest in the dreamer within them.
Now, let's take a look inside…...
DREAM T-SHIRT:
Summer is officially here! Our new collection has a handful of items and we wanted to be intentional about choosing items that would benefit individuals who are dealing with the summer heat in NYC.
Using the same designs within our Dream Collection we wanted to keep the vision of Oi alive which involves creating fashion that ALL people can wear. We are proud to be able to provide the same items we sell to our customers to those experiencing homelessness. In doing this we strip away titles and send a reminder that we are all HUMAN. This minimalistic tee includes a simple but powerful message which is to “DREAM”.
SOCKS:
One of the highest requested items by homeless charities & organisations is…… SOCKS. This staple piece we wear in our wardrobe everyday can easily be overlooked. Our goal is to innovate and create the best giving products, so we wanted to make sure every individual had the highest quality pair of socks to call their own. Whilst it may seem simple, having a fresh pair of socks to put on your feet is a comfort that we believe everyone should have, especially those experiencing homeless.
HAND-SANITISER:
COVID19 has impacted millions worldwide including the homeless community. During this time many charities & organizations took immediate action to assure their guests would be safe in and out of their facility. When we spoke to The Bowery Mission about how we can meet the practical needs of their guests there was an evident need in hand sanitiser. We believe it is vital to support the vulnerable at this time! Using hand sanitiser reduces microbial counts and kills many harmful germs that could infect the flu and other viruses. In order to keep these facilities a healthy and thriving environment, it's critical to provide for these needs.
DREAM PROMPT:
How do you remind someone to stop and dream? We wanted to take the guests at The Bowery Mission on a journey to dream. We’ve included cards in each pack prompting each guest to put their head in the clouds, even if for just a moment. We want to encourage dreamers to dream again, as well as set goals for themselves, to pursue passions, and inspire them to look beyond their current circumstance. The same way we are encouraging you guys to dream bigger we want to make sure we’re doing the same for these individuals.
We decide to share this message with these guests….
“It’s easy to look at where you are right now and think the odds are stacked against you. Your dream can feel impossible, you don’t know where to start, does it feel out of reach? We want to inspire you to dream YOUR dream. No matter how big. No matter how small. IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO DREAM!”
TAG OF HOPE (DREAM EDITION):
During our hope campaign we decided to implement what we call “Tag of Hope” . These are messages we attached to our products that are meant to uplift, encourage and inspire you! For our new collection we decided to add tags of hope into our dream packs! We wanted to get YOU GUYS involved in the process, asking you to submit messages that would encourage dreamers to dream. These messages and encouragements will be handwritten on a dream tag and placed in the personalized pack.
BEANIE:
Taking it back to our original Wear One Share One product, we wouldn’t be OutsideIn if we didn’t share a beanie, right? Yes, putting a beanie on someone’s head isn’t the same as putting a roof over their head, but think of the value that person would feel if someone actually took the time to stop and give them a gift. Giving a beanie to someone living on the streets is not going to transform their life overnight, but it could be that one little step in the right direction to reach a bigger goal.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
One of our dreams at OutsideIn is to inspire and empower our society to help bring those on the outside of society in. That people who find themselves experiencing homelessness or feeling outside of society would know their worth, that they are loved and would never give up hope.

This is where we empower you with an additional PRODUCT to share with someone who is homeless in your city. The other day we hinted that this summer that we want to dream bigger with our giving and inspire people to dream no matter what their circumstance! With that being said, say hello to WOSO (Wear One, Share One), a new way of giving. Every purchase you will be part of our exciting NEW PROJECT that will be taking place this month with The Bowery Mission in New York City.
Before the big reveal, allow us to introduce you to The Bowery Mission...
WHERE: New York City
As of 2020 did you know that nearly 70,000 people are experiencing homelessness in New York City? This includes adults, children, and families. Poverty in New York City greatly affects children: nearly 1 in 3 people living below the poverty line is a child. We also found that one in every 125 New Yorkers is homeless, in a city of more than 8.4 million people we see a significant need in NYC. Homelessness – as well as the trauma that results from total loss of community, possessions, and security – is one of the greatest crises people can face in their lifetime. Homelessness itself is an emergency, and now New Yorkers experiencing homelessness are in even deeper crisis. Across the metro area, restrictions designed to prevent spread of disease have left many homeless New Yorkers without access to hygiene facilities, safe shelter, or food supplies in a time when these basic necessities are needed more than ever. They cannot follow mandates to “stock up, stay at home, or work from home,” simply because they do not have a home. Additionally, these men and women already have far higher rates of underlying medical conditions, and thus are more likely to experience moderate to severe symptoms of COVID-19.
WHO: The Bowery Mission
Since the 1870’s, The Bowery Mission has served generations of New Yorkers experiencing homelessness, hunger and poverty with meals, clothing, shelter and residential programs. Last year, the Mission provided more than 558,726 hot meals, 140,658 nights of shelter, 100,334 articles of clothing and 2,423 onsite medical and optometry exams. Each meal and every service is an invitation to residential and community programs that help clients make progress towards their goals. They have made it their mission to provide meals, shelter, and clothing seven days a week, 365 days a year, to all who walk through our doors — no questions asked.
WHAT: Dream Project Part I
We are excited to announce that we will be supporting The Bowery Mission programs for New Yorkers experiencing homelessness, which help individuals make progress towards their goals and empower them with tools for independent living. More than 11,000 single men, nearly 4,000 single women and 46,000 adults or children in families are among those sleeping in city shelters. With such extensive numbers we want to be a small part of a bigger change in helping to inspire people to dream again no matter their circumstances.
WHEN: Month of July
We cannot wait to share with you ALL the details coming soon about our upcoming donation that will support guests at The Bowery Mission with clothing and inspiration to dream!
Final Thoughts:
You may ask why New York City? Our goal at OutsideIn is to bring the outside of society in. We want to be a company that makes an impact locally and globally, ensuring that all those who come into contact with the brand feel part of the Oi Fam. With New York being hit hard by COVID-19, escalating rates of unemployment, we wanted to do our bit to let those who are facing homelessness or in poverty know that we are here for them. Thanks for your support and helping to reach places that we could only have dreamed about 3 years ago.
